Commentary

This week's chart sees a switch at the top - with last weeks number 1 I Got U falling to the number 4 position, and instead being swapped for the beautiful Magic by Coldplay, the first single to be taken from latest studio album Ghost Stories. The track recently re-entered the top 20 officially following the split of frontman Chris Martin with wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

SEVEN new entries this week, the highest being the #2 debut of Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau with Changes. The track recently debuted at  #3 officially in the uK, but going all the way to #1 in Germany. The track samples Baby by Pnau and is utterly sublime - the soaring saxophone and beat intertwine so well together, with the sample slotting in perfectly. So haunting yet so summery, this'll sound even better in the sun.

The next new entry came courtesy of HAIM with If I Could Change Your Mind at #14. This is the latest single to be taken off #1 album Days Are Gone and sees the girls pull off a full-on dance routine in the video. A fantastic slice of pop from them, upbeat and instantly memorable for me.

Next up at #16 is Pumpin Blood by NONONO. This actually came out last year, but I FINALLY discovered it thanks to YouTube. I recognised it on an advert and finally managed to find the whole thing! Anyway, it's very quirky but in a brilliant way, I love how the whistling element is incorporated.

YES, your eyes are not deceiving you, as #20 is a brand new entry from 5 Seconds Of Summer with She Looks So Perfect. I have indeed been slating it this week for it's cringe lyrics, but THOSE aside, it's too infectious and catchy for me to escape, I actually really love the guitars in it as well as the boys' vocals. This recently went to #1 in the UK, being the latest Australian act to do so since Gotye ft. Kimbra with Somebody That I Used to Know in 2012.

The next new entry at #26 is The Pierces with Believe in Me. This track sports an uber-cool video, and the video is how the song itself came to my attention, after flicking music channels. I was vaguely aware of The Pierces before but this has really made me take notice of them, hopefully the track can translate into mainstream success for them.

Penultimate new entry Arabella debuts at #30 for the Arctic Monkeys. I'm absolutely loving the singles from AM so far, with Do I Wanna Know? being one of my favourites of all of last year. Arabella is another great one for them - replicating the moody sound once again for a fantastic new single.

Last but not least comes Hey Now from London Grammar. They initially came to my attention from loving their song Strong last year (their second UK Top 40 Chart entry after Wasting My Young Years) and they are back as haunting as ever with Hey Now.
